Dan Savage is the author of the syndicated column, "Savage Love," and the Editorial Director of The Stranger, Seattle’s weekly newspaper. In addition to his frequent appearances on CNN, MSNBC, Real Time With Bill Maher, and The Colbert Report, Savage is a regular contributor to public radio’s This American Life. He is the author of Savage Love; The Kid: What Happened When My Boyfriend and I Decided to Get Pregnant; Skipping Towards Gomorrah: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Pursuit of Happiness in America; and The Commitment: Love, Sex, Marriage and My Family. Savage is writing a new book, tentatively titled The Sex Life of Others (Dutton, 2012). Dan has recently attended a White House press conference on bullying and is currently working on a pilot with MTV.

Daniel Ellsberg: “War and Secrecy”

A Presentation by Daniel Ellsberg, the man the Nixon administration dubbed “The Most Dangerous Man in America.” Ellsberg is a former United States military analyst who, while employed by the RAND Corporation, precipitated a national political controversy in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret Pentagon study of US government decision-making about the Vietnam War, to The New York Times and other newspapers. This is the fortieth anniversary of Ellsberg’s going into hiding to avoid arrest by the FBI while disseminating the Pentagon Papers to the major news media. Ellsberg also spent three years in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as rifle platoon leader, operations officer, and rifle company commander. Brooke Gladstone

Molly Shannon, whose debut children’s book Tilly the Trickster will be published in September 2011 by Abrams Books for Young Readers, is one of the most recognizable female comedic actresses in entertainment through her work on television and in films. The Emmy-nominated actress is known for portraying exuberant characters and became famous for her roles on Saturday Night Live. Molly has appeared in numerous hit movies, including Superstar, Never Been Kissed, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and featured on top-rated television shows, including Glee in 2010, and 30 Rock, Scrubs, Seinfeld, Will & Grace, Sex and the City, and The New Adventures of Old Christine, among many others.
