Featured Library: Lyon County Library System

This month, the Lyon County (Nev.) Library System is launching its “Adaptation Festival,” a program designed for adult and senior film lovers. The library system has chosen five novels or short stories that have been adapted for film. Patrons are invited to read the selected works, then attend a monthly book talk featuring a screening of the adapted film.
The books and films span various literary and film genres and include:
- Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
- Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, adapted to Blade Runner
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The program is available at all five branches of the library system. The events do require registration; each branch will have books available for check-out for those who register early. The festival was made possible by a grant from the Library Services and Technology Act and the Nevada State Library and Archives.
