The Jackson County Public Library serves over 35,000 people in seven county townships. There are about 40 staff members in the system. The Seymour Library, a 1905 Carnegie Library with additions, resides in the largest town in the county. In 2015, the district population consisted of Seymour (44.2%), Crothersville (3.6%), and Medora (1.6%). Almost 79,000 people entered the Seymour library from January through April of 2016.
