Southington is a town with a geographic area of 36.9 square miles and a population of 43,000. The Southington Public Library employs 14 full-time and six part-time workers. Three years ago, the library decided to enhance its services to teens by creating a part-time Reference/Teen Librarian position, with goals being: to enhance the collection of teen materials, to plan, promote, and conduct a variety of programs to educate and entertain teens with different interests, and to engage teens through a Teen Advisory Group.
