Discussion Programs
Libraries are not only places to find books and all types of media, they are one of the best place to talk about what you’re reading, listening to, or watching. The recent explosion of book groups and the One City, One Book phenomenon have a long history in library-based discussion programs, beginning with the first national book discussion series, Let’s Talk About It, launched by the ALA Public Programs Office in 1982. Along the way, Oprah Winfrey, librarians, bookstores, and others have developed their own approaches to reading/viewing and discussion groups.
The Resource Library offers links and information on a wealth of sources for themes, topics, book and media lists, discussion guides and related programming.
