Picturing America for Public Libraries

During the school year, 6 art classes which included 3rd and 4th graders, were able to view and discuss the posters. This summer, our reading program is "Get Creative @ Your Library" so we plan on displaying the posters throughout the summer and offer a special program entitled "Picturing America, Picturing Ely". The director will speak about the posters and the National Endowment for the Humanities grant. The local history center will speak about some local pictures on Ely's history. We thought it would be a neat way to tie our reading theme in with some famous artwork that is recognized on a national level and some historical pictures that are on a local level.
