Friends of the Elgin Public Library Elgin, IA

After School program, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. : 42 children in grades K-6 attended. The art professor did a group discussion using some of the prints, explaining about the famous people in them, technique, and why they are important today. She then had the students do a simple art collage craft to go with the theme, "Picturing America." We also displayed library books going with the theme for the month in which the programs were held. The adult program consisted of a power point presentation by the art professor which highlighted the art and historical time period of the prints and their significance. Other prints were on display on racks made by a volunteer. The art professor stayed to answer questions about these prints. Both programs were very well-received.
