Picturing America for Public Libraries

We used the posters by displaying them in the children's room on a rotating basis, always having some sort of interactive piece to the display. For one theme, we had fans with questions on them, directing the children to look for certain details in the art. Another time we gave small prizes to any child who could tell me one fact about one of the leaders pictured. We also used them in a series of art workshops given by a local artist.

A local artist, Simone Brown, held a series of art classes based on the posters. She discussed the art work with the children, and then had them create their own, using different medium. The children ranged in age from 6-12 years.
