Messenger Public Library, North Aurora, IL
We sponsored a program entitled The Role of the Artist in American History. It was presented by Barbara Jaffee, PhD., Associate Professor, Art History, Modern Art, and Critical Theory at Northern Illinois University on the 2nd of April. It looked at the history of America from a different perspective and showed how artists helped shape who we are today. After this presentation, we had many inquiries and comments about the collection. The Youth services Department also gave support by sponsoring a series of programs called Meet the Masters to create an awareness and future interest in the Arts.
We put a lot of time and effort into providing publicity for this event and the grant itself. We contacted all the teachers and the administrator of the North Aurora School District 129. Further, we sent out Newsletters from our library detailing events linked with the grant and the grant itself to every resident of North Aurora. Inside the library, we publicized the grant through signage on our plasma screen, our website and pamphlets handed out to our patrons.
