Ontario Public Library Ontario, NY

In October we worked with fourth grade and elementary art teachers to create and integrate an optional Library program into the 4th grade study of New York Indians. Youth (Grade 4) were invited to a program at the library to discuss art presented. (5B, 6B, 8B and more). In November we collaborated with a high school art teacher to develop a talk on The Art of Architecture (GR9-12). We engaged a small gathering of youth in discussion displaying bridges(13A, 14B, buildings (ex. 1B, 15B, 16A, 16B), and landscapes (20A). We talked about creating art, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture. Styles of art was discussed as well. In February we again held a family program on Native Americans in which art, folktales and song were shared. (Grades K-%, parents/caregivers). In March a program was presented on Portraiture (Gr3-5). Discussion of differences betwee styles of the works, why the artists did things in a specific way, and what those being painted or photographed were thinking. (2A, 3B, 5B, 9B, 12A, 18B, 19A).
