Picturing America for Public Libraries

In connection with our summer reading program, whose theme is "Be Creative at Your Library", we will have a summer passport program open to all ages, which is a continuation of the Picturing America Quest event. Each participant will create their own passport stamp (e.g. out of modeling clay) and be given a Picturing American Passport and each work of art will be given a similar passport and stamp. Similar to the recreational game of letterboxing, as participants explore art with ties to various regions of our country, they will mark their passport with the stamp associated with that work of art and use their stamp to mark the passport of the work of art. In connection with our Picturing America Bookshelf and in collaboration with our town newsletter, we will hold an essay contest for a chance to win a gift card to a local book or art store.
